Rumeli Turks Festival in Istanbul

The four-day Rumeli Turks festival was open in Istanbul on 8th of August 2014. This event was the opportunity for strengthening the cooperation between local self-governments and associations which gather the Turkish citizens with Balkan origins. Also, it was a chance to present the economic potentials and exchange the experiences between the participants.

In the presence of a large number of print and electronic media representatives, festival was open by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu and mayor of Istanbul, Mr. Kadir Topbaş.

Besides the Istanbul municipalities as Bayrampasa and Pendik, in which live the most of the immigrant population from the Balkans, the festival was attended also the representatives from Macedonian and Bosnia and Herzegovina municipalities. Also, among them there were present the representatives of Serbian Novi Pazar municipality which found a convenient opportunity to present their own economics and touristic potentials. Opening ceremony was attended Consul General of Republic of Serbia in Istanbul, Mr. Zoran Markovic who in spoke with the participants of festival expressed a necessary for the intensification of cooperation among self-governments and associations in order to strengthen the relations between Republic of Serbia and immigration population in Republic of Turkey.
